This project is a skin applicator designed for Australian elderly men who have to apply ointment on their back to treat skin disease (melanoma in this case), which is intervening from application stage of the hypothetic system created base on a research paper that narrates that anti-cancer effect of dung beetle glycosaminoglycans(GAGs) on melanoma, and it has a potential opportunity for scientists to make a drug to cure melanoma base on the GAGs from dung beetles. The development process of my hypothetic system is finding a research paper, identifying an insect, application, and an user group.
There are several problems that I forced on. Firstly, the one of the common areas of melanoma is back, but they cannot reach their back by hands because they are old or effected by Arthritis. Even more, some elderly men even cannot lift their hands to use applicator. Secondly, when patients are using applicator, they have to avoid second infection, which means the pad should be clean when they are using it. Thirdly, it should be easy to use. Folding coat hangers, folding machine guns, and cosmetics applicators became my precedent because they have one thing in common which is easy to carry around, small, and foldable.
